Dark & Gothic Fantasy

It’s spooky season again, which means it is time to blend genres of the supernatural with the morally ambiguous.

This month, we're discussing books in the dark and gothic fantasy subgenres: The Devils by Joe Abercrombie and The Red Winter by Cameron Sullivan.

We also have a bonus pick for the month: The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin. The voting was very close this month, so we chose an optional read for those who DNF or do not want to read on of the other options. It will be casually discussed at the end of the meeting.

The Devils

by Joe Abercrombie

Holy work sometimes requires unholy deeds. When you’re headed through hell, you need the Devils on your side.

The Red Winter

by Cameron Sullivan

A devastating love story. A bewitching twist on history. A blood-drenched hunt for purpose, power, and redemption.
