Who We Are
Hillsboro Fantasy Book Club serves as a vibrant part of the Hillsboro community. We host monthly in-person meetings (typically 15-20 participants) and support an online community through our website, Facebook, and Instagram. Our goal is to offer a rich atmosphere for fantasy enthusiasts to engage and grow together.
What We're Reading
August's Theme:
Academia
We typically choose two books a month for our monthly book club. In 2026, we selected themes from the TBR survey to align the book choices with member requests. Every quarter, we vote to determine the book choices for the next three months.
In August, we're discussing books that fall in the academia subgenre. Our book choices for this month are Daughter of Crows by Mark Lawrence and The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang. The voting was close, so we also have a bonus pick: A Study in Drowning by Ava Reid. This optional reading will be casually discussed at the end of the meeting
Side Quests
In addition to monthly books, we also have a variety of Side Quest options for those who want to read outside the monthly picks. Each one has a separate "mini book club" meeting. These books are either stand-alone books that are too long for a monthly reading experience, or series that our members want to dive into.
